(Or I'up he's about. It could be you next!!) My Wife and I arrived home one wet, dark evening to find this smart car standing outside.I said, in my normal mild manner: "Who the *!?heck is this waiting for us?" Is it enemy, debt collector or someone up to no good thought I. But a smile was on this waiting man's face, so I bet he is selling windows or going to ask us to switch over to cable telephone. With a outstretched hand and still a beaming face he announced that it was Chris from Eight Bit. Now lets think. That scanned image I saw of Chris was all black and white dots. This Chris had no dots. Then he mentioned about ambulance work. So it must be him. On his way up north but came south to Northamptonshire because it was on his way! Just because I owe him a five pence stamp I bet. Anyway it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.Chris had a job to do in the area and found time to visit me for a couple of hours. I have to say that we have a enthusiastic, full of bounce, friendly Editor looking after us. (Perhaps he will let me off with that stamp now I've said that!). Now that we have met he should now know why I have not sent in a photo to be scanned!! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, From: D6E (Richard Harker) Subject: General (Me - strange?) Am I the only one, or do other people peel off labels from disks that they've been sent, to see what has been on them? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, From: D2N (VIC HORGAN) Subject: Questions to the Boss (Chris - that Boss) 1. If my discs (including Message Disc) reach you on or shortly after the deadline you do not publish the Messages. This has happened twice with me in the past.( I tend to leave everything to the last minute).I appreciate that you are really pushed for time to get the discs out in time. But, are the Messages published in the next issue? I know that I am rather slap-happy about meeting deadlines and it is my own fault if the Messages never appear. But I would like to know if I should send them again. EDITOR...... YES! If your messages/ software don't get on to the issue, they are put onto the next issue immediately. 2. I read in one of the past Issues that one of your stalwart helpers- I forget his name - was branching out on his own Disc Magazine. He was apparently interested in ( dare I say it!) the Archimedes.I have recently aquired an Archimedes 31O.Now, I stress the point that I did not buy the machine, nor borrow it,nor steal it,nor find it.It was practically thrust on to me by a friend who wanted "a good home for an old redundant model"(Old and redundant would apply to me as well as the machine I think.) The faithful Master 128 is everything I will ever need and will outlast me. However I might as well play with the thing as it is sitting here taking up space.I have no intentions of buying manuals, magazines, etc, for the Archimedes but would appreciate some advice from a more homely source like a Disc Magazine similar to our 8-Bit. If you would be kind enough to let me know the name and address of this ex.helper I would appreciate it. Vic Horgan D2N Editor... I think you mean Jon Ripley. Contact him at: ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, D6G Sprow 999 SUBJECT - ADDRESSES AND CHARITY Dear All, I now have a full set of addresses and dates (incl.email) to contact me as regards questions, repairs, and sales: While at University (doing Electronics) Robert Sprowson, Final posting dates (1st class) are- Today to the 11th December 1996 7th January to 12th March 1997 22nd April to 25th June 1997 Outside these dates mail will be left rotting in my pigeon hole! Write to Robert Sprowson, . Don't worry if you've just got back from the letter box and posted it to my normal address. My parents still live there and pass on any mail on a weekly basis. Alternatively, the hi-tech amongst you can email me on rps102@york.ac.uk - I check my emails on Mon,Wed,Fri at about 8 o'clock in the evening. You can also use 8BS's internal messaging system - I'm D6G Lastly,my homepage on the internet has a BBC related section with a bang up to date forsale list on - http://www.york.ac.uk/~rps102/bbc/bbc. htm That's all one string, and as mode 7 doesn't have a tilde that's what "~" is The second thing I wish to mention is that Charles Spender (also of 8BS fame) has left several boxes of BBC related articles with me,to tidy up and sell. I haven't yet had time to catalogue all of these items yet,but you should notice the FORSALE list becoming more and more bloated. We have agreed to split any profits from the sale of these items between his chosen charity (Guide Dogs for the Blind) and 8BS funds.Hence, the more you spend the more people will benefit! As a second benefit,it means we will be able to find the floor in the spare room again... Keep BBCing! Robert Sprowson. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
